The national institution shall contribute to strengthening the implementation of human rights, in particular by:
- Facilitating cooperation with relevant public bodies and other parties engaged in human rights work,
- participating in international cooperation to promote and protect human rights.
Nationally, cooperation is directed towards civil society, including NGOs, ombudsman institutions and other public agencies. The UN Paris Principles emphasize that the national institution should represent and reflect the diversity of society both in its structure and working methods.
Internationally, the focus is on cooperation with other national human rights institutions, who co-operate through both a regional and an international network. In addition the national institution co-operates with international monitoring mechanisms through international reporting.
