16. GREVIO encourages the Norwegian authorities to actively support the media sector to implement monitoring and complaint mechanisms aimed at enhancing respect by the media for women’s human dignity and the prohibition of any gender discrimination, including in the context of reporting on violence they have suffered and in compliance with freedom of expression and media freedom. GREVIO further encourages the Norwegian authorities to set incentives or otherwise promote the development of self-regulatory standards in relation to the non-stereotypical and nonsexist portrayal of women in advertisements
