26. The Committee recommends that the State party ensure that the minimum sentence takes into account the extreme seriousness of enforced disappearances and guarantee that the perpetrators of this crime are always punished with appropriate penalties, in line with article 7 of the Convention. The Committee encourages the State party to reduce the gap between the minimum and maximum penalties for the offence of enforced disappearance.
